There are three ways to pay: a weekly subscription, a one-time payment for a single scan, or a one-off lifetime purchase. If you only need to check one item before you buy it, the single scan is the option most people should use, because it is not a subscription and nothing renews.
What is free and what is not
Let me be exact about this, because “free app” means different things on the App Store and it is the main thing people get annoyed about.
Free: downloading the app, opening it, and looking around. There is no purchase required to install it and no account to create.
Paid: running a scan. The AI analysis, which is the actual product, is behind a plan. Photographing an item and receiving a real, caution, or fake read with the reasoning behind it requires one of the three options below.
So the honest answer to “is it free” is: free to try, paid to use. We would rather say that plainly here than have you find out after you have already photographed the item.
The three ways to pay, and who each suits
One-time, single scan. You pay once, you scan one item, nothing renews. This is the right choice if you are checking a single purchase, which is most people. It is worth saying clearly: you do not need a subscription to use this app.
Weekly subscription. Renews automatically until you cancel. This suits someone actively shopping, going through a batch of marketplace listings, or reselling. If you are checking one thing, this is the wrong plan for you.
Lifetime. One payment, permanent access, no renewal. Suits resellers and frequent secondhand buyers who expect to keep checking items indefinitely.
Current prices are shown on the App Store listing and inside the app. We are deliberately not printing numbers here, because store pricing varies by region and changes over time, and a stale figure on a web page is worse than no figure.
How the subscription renews and how to cancel
If you do choose the weekly plan, this is how it behaves, and it is standard Apple billing rather than anything specific to us.
Payment is charged to your Apple ID when you confirm the purchase. The subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. You manage or cancel it in your App Store account settings on your device, not inside the app.
The one-time scan and the lifetime purchase are not subscriptions. They do not renew and there is nothing to cancel.
What you can check for free, without the app
A fair answer to a pricing question includes the free route, so here it is.
A large share of counterfeits are caught with no tools at all. Compare the item against verified reference photos of the same model, read the seller’s history and feedback, check whether the price makes sense against the real market, and inspect the label, stitching and serial format yourself. The app earns its cost in a narrower situation: when the free checks come back inconclusive, when the details are too fine to judge from a listing photo, or when you are standing in front of a seller and have minutes rather than an evening.
Is it worth paying for
The way to think about it is the price of the scan against the price of the mistake.
On a cheap item, the free checks in our guides are usually enough, and the honest advice is to use those. On a purchase worth hundreds, a single scan costs a rounding error against the loss, and it gives you something concrete to raise with the seller before money moves.
What it does not do is settle the question with certainty. It is an AI pre-check working from photographs, so it cannot judge weight, smell, or anything sealed inside the item. On a genuinely expensive piece, use it as a filter and then pay a human authenticator on anything that passes.
